What Went Down?
Atlanta-based rapper 21 Savage, whose legal name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, surrendered to authorities on February 15, 2019, in Liberty County, Georgia, following a warrant for theft by deception.
The charges stemmed from a civil dispute related to a concert the rapper performed in Liberty County several years prior. The individual who booked the concert claimed 21 Savage did not fulfill his contractual obligations and pursued criminal charges instead of a civil lawsuit.
This arrest followed the rapper’s highly publicized detainment by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on February 3, 2019, during a targeted operation. ICE alleged that Abraham-Joseph, a British citizen, had overstayed his visa and had a felony conviction. He was released from immigration custody on February 13, 2019, on a $100,000 bond.
